Raised in a one-stoplight town in the Canadian Rockies, Kalum Ko began making ski films at 13 with his mom’s point-and-shoot.

Now based in Brooklyn, NY, his work has taken him to over 35 countries, collaborating with brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Conde Nast, and Tinder, and agencies such as Rethink, GUT, and Mischief. He is a Young Guns 2025 winner, the global portfolio competition honoring the top creatives under 30.

Kalum has such a fresh take on authentic, docu-style storytelling. His background as a photographer makes each frame rich, and he brings a level of artistry to his observational approach. Kalum’s clear and empathetic voice really stands out in the crowded documentary space. He is currently developing two post-documentary projects exploring home, community, and coming-of-age across Canada.
